Horseback Riding
The Grande Cache region was opened in modern times in the 1930’s and 40’s by horseback. Roads did not exist in the area until the 1950’s. Traveling by horse is a still a fairly common activity, and many commercial outfitters operate in Willmore Park, offering guided pack trips and hunting. To live the lifestyle, overnight pack trips are a wilderness experience rich in memories.
For visitors who wish to bring their own horses, you can enjoy the multi-use trails and staging areas with corrals with access into Willmore Wilderness Park. Visitors can contact Alberta Sustainable Resources for current regulations and conditions.
The Grande Cache Tourism & Interpretive Centre can provide the necessary maps and information for your horseback adventure.
