Hiking
Grande Cache has a trail for everyone: scenic gentle strolls, hikes along towering cliffs overlooking deep canyons, and remote backpacking treks.
All area mountains are featured in a hiking program, Passport to the Peaks, which provides an excellent map book and cairns for “summit stamps” on every mountaintop!
Many area trails and trailheads are marked, but even popular areas are lightly used. For an enriching experience, hire a local hiking guide.
Trails are open year-round, but are best in July, August, September and October.
The Tourism & Interpretive Centre provides maps and tips on hiking: remember it is bear-country, and mountain weather can change very quickly.

Please be sure to pack out all your garbage and respect any wildlife you may come across. If you venture into the alpine areas remember that, despite the rugged look and the harsh conditions endured here, this is an extremely fragile environment where any damage done often remains visible for many years.
