The following programs are available at the Recreation Centre and are Free of Charge:

Program Referrals: Consultation with clients to identify services, programs, & supports available to assist with optimizing quality of life.

Parent Information Sessions & Support: For parents and guardians. Various options are offered to develop and enhance parenting skills and methods, including one on one trainings sessions.

Family Relief Program: This program provides childcare relief to parents/guardians who are experiencing stress in their lives and to divert possible crisis situations. For ages 0-5.

Grief & Loss Support: Provides support and coping strategies for clients affected by the loss of a loved one, relationship, or other distressing circumstances.

Taxi Ticket Program: Taxi tickets are provided to seniors or residents who have a physical or mental disability. Available at the Recreation Centre Guest Services Desk during regular office hours.

Need Help with Government Forms? Staff provide clients with assistance in filling out various government forms such as CPP, Disability, Old Age Security, and AISH.

Community Volunteer Income Tax Program: Volunteers assist seniors and low income families/individuals with simple tax returns. Volunteers do not prepare returns for any complex situations including returns for deceased persons; individuals who file for bankruptcy; self-employment; individuals who report capital gains or loses; or those who report employment expenses or business/rental income and expenses. Free of charge.

Meals on Wheels: A service provided for individuals who are unable to prepare their own meals; i.e. those experiencing long or short term illness, early hospital discharge patients, people with disabilities.

Disaster Social Services:  In the event of a large emergency or disaster “Community Services” will implement the Disaster Social Services Response Plan for Grande Cache  (i.e. operating a Reception Centre).

Budgeting Basics:  This budgeting program is a one on one approach to help with setting up a budget, updating it as your circumstances change and help with getting you back on track if you go off your budget. Whether you're a student, a retiree or somewhere in between, if you're looking for a way to manage your money better and improve your financial situation, then this program can help. By appointment.

Volunteer Appreciation Gala:  An annual celebration dinner and awards ceremony to honor all of the volunteers that have helped make our community a better place to live.

Grande Cache Interagency:  Promoting community development through regional and local agencies working together. It provides opportunity for human services agencies to share ideas and information, to network and support one another and to seek new opportunities by identifying needs and gaps in the community. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month.
